Will Bake for Food: Nov. 12, 2011
Successful Sale Returns for Second Year: Bigger, Better, Fully Baked
(Seattle WA) – Saturday, November 12th, 2011 Local food bloggers are turning homemade Twinkies into more than just a creative treat. After collecting one ton of food and raising $1000 at last year’s Will Bake for Food, organizers have upped the ante for this year’s impromptu bake sale. With food blogging luminaries such as Molly Wizenberg of Orangette and Michael Natkin of Herbivoracious hawking their wares, they hope to double last years’ numbers. All donations from the sale on Saturday, November 12th at University Heights Center (next to the U-District Farmers’ Market) will be donated to the Emergency Feeding Program.
At the sale, non-perishable food items or monetary donations can be traded for tickets to spend on blogger-made baked goods, from cookies to the aforementioned Twinkies, whole vanilla beans, various gluten-free items and local apple cider. Lucky for attendees, freshly brewed coffee is also available, since the sale starts at 11am and getting there early is well advised—parking will be tight and last year’s event sold out completely in 90 minutes (this year’s sale will continue until 2pm, if the goods last that long).
Organizers Jenny Miller (Rainy Day Gal) and Jenny Richards (Purple House Dirt) have poured their passion for food into this event, stating that they believe that everyone should have access to nutritious meals. Will Bake for Food is their fun way to bring the community together to fight hunger.
‘Will Bake for Food’ will occur Saturday, November 12th, 2011 at University Heights Center, across from the University District Farmers’ Market, from 11am until 2pm.
